The Olympic View: A look at what's new with the Olympic Team
Dr. Shelley, DC DACNB
“You don’t stop moving because you’re old. You’re old because you stopped moving.”
I don’t mean to imply that age doesn’t matter, now that I am well into my 60s, I have to admit that I was wrong about at least one fitness concept. I used to tell my older skiing buddies that they would be able to keep up if they just trained more.
I exercise pretty much every day. Despite my commitment to exercise, when I ski like I’m 34 my body reminds me I’m actually 64. Age does matter. After we hit our physical performance peak, we lose a little bit every year. I don’t like it, but I can resist it. My goal is to hold onto the highest level of function and quality of life possible. Considering the information and tools available to us, I believe that 70 is the new 50. With that in mind, we are bringing a new level of relief, recovery, and fitness to Olympic. I am excited to introduce you to Sean Masters, Director of Movement & Performance Development / Marketing
Sean Masters
Director of Movement & Performance Development / Marketing
After sustaining a rotator cuff tear as a teenager, Sean became deeply passionate about anatomy and physiology—so much so that he decided to devote his life to helping others recover from injuries and return to a life free of limitations. Since 2007, Sean has helped thousands of people overcome pain and restore their mobility, stability, strength, and, most importantly, their confidence, enabling them to return to the life they love without fear.
Here is a testimonial from one of Sean‘s clients:
“Sean Masters is helping me reach my goal of building strength while avoiding injuries around my neck and lower back. His holistic approach around exercise, plus his expert injury knowledge is the perfect combination for me. After sustaining injuries in my 60’s, I needed more than just a personal trainer focused on workouts. I needed a coach like Sean who knows how to optimize exercise while understanding what muscles work to strengthen my injuries. Sean provided a 360 assessment which resulted in a plan specific to my body condition and goals. He helps me work this plan 3 days/week and today I feel stronger, have more energy, and most importantly, have less pain!”
– John J. Age 60
This is why we are so excited to bring Sean’s physical rehab expertise to our amazing patients. Please welcome him when you see him in-clinic, and if you would like to meet with Sean to discuss what he can do for you, let us know!
