What is Peripheral Neuropathy

Peripheral neuropathy is a condition in which the nerves that connect our brain and spinal cord to our extremities have been damaged. Peripheral nerves carry more than just pain messages. Other nerve fibers carry information about temperature and pressure. This is why a neuropathy sufferer may have burning, freezing or throbbing sensations. They often find it difficult to walk, use stairs and maintain their balance; falling is a serious risk. Many are miserable because of the chronic symptoms they experience, loss of sleep and the overall impact on their quality of life.

Peripheral neuropathy is a frustrating, life impairing condition that is often overlooked until it’s too late to treat effectively. Common medical treatment consists of drug prescriptions like Gabapentin/Neurontin, Lyrica or Cymbalta. Unfortunately, these medications affect all nerves, not just the ones affected by neuropathy, and they only mask the symptoms. Fortunately, recent advances in treatment are offering relief for many peripheral neuropathy he suffers. Contact Olympic Spine & Sports Therapy to learn more!

Our Approach to Treatment

The unique treatments offered at Olympic Spine & Sports Therapy clinics don’t mask the symptoms of peripheral neuropathy. They are designed to regain lost nerve function. Healthy nerves don’t send signals of sensations that aren’t really there. Improved nerve metabolism and function means less pain, less numbness and tingling, normal sensation and better balance. Candidates that qualify for treatment generally experience a reduction in their neuropathy symptoms in a matter of weeks. Also, most patients experience increased stamina and enjoy better balance that leads to a healthier more active lifestyle.
