The Olympic View: A look at what's new with the Olympic Team

What do you do if you still have problems after surgery?

Suzanne is the poster child of perseverance. She suffered with ankle, foot, knee, and leg pain that progressively worsened over nine years.

In her search for solutions, she saw the following providers:

  • Primary care doctor 12 times, specifically for these symptoms
  • 3 podiatrists
  • 2 sports medicine specialists
  • 3+ years of physical therapy
  • Orthopedist
  • Chiropractor
  • Massage therapist

She tried ibuprofen, Tylenol, muscle relaxers, and prescription medication. She had Cortizone injections as well.

When those treatments failed, she agreed to have a posterior tibial tendon surgery leaving her with 3 screws in her right foot. Additionally, she had multiple surgeries on her left knee. When we asked Suzanne how things had changed since she started treatment at Olympic, she said:

“I can walk better. I can stand longer, and walk longer… all without pain. This all results in me getting more done and a better quality of life. Work, chores, and keeping up with my son’s who are teen athletes, are all exponentially better!

I am getting back to my old workouts with my personal trainer. I’m grateful for all and any activities. I can participate in without pain or reduced pain.”

When we asked Suzanne about the treatment, she received at Olympic, she said:

“The treatment I received was different than other medical facilities. First, the various types of treatments address complex conditions. My treatments changed as my needs changed. The medical industry needs to be more open to these types of treatments. They work – where others don’t!”

Suzanne’s parting comment:

“Thank you for all you do, the detail in which you do it, the acceptance of the complexity of my situation, and kindness and patience shown during my treatments! My deepest gratitude comes from being heard and treated more carefully when “hotspots” arise. That has been so amazing, to be heard as a patient!”

  • For creating all the fee schedules in CT so we can replace the barcoding system.
  • Also, for fine tuning case types so that charges are being entered correctly! I know implementing this took a ton of your time, all for it to save time in other areas in the long run!
  • Also thank you for alerting everyone when the procedure is not smooth. It’s so helpful to know when there are hiccups, so that we can all be on the same page!
