The Olympic View: A look at what's new with the Olympic Team

Joint PainRegenerative Medicine: Healing Joint Pain from Within Joint pain can significantly limit mobility, independence, and quality of life. While traditional treatments like cortisone injections or antiinflammatory medications may provide temporary relief, they don’t address the underlying issue—tissue degeneration. That’s where Regenerative Medicine steps in. Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Wharton’s Jelly Stem Cell Therapy represent a breakthrough approach that focuses on repairing and regenerating damaged tissue rather than just masking pain. PRP involves concentrating your body’s own healing platelets and growth factors from a simple blood draw, then injecting them precisely into injured joints or tendons. These natural signals activate repair cells, stimulate collagen production, and reduce inflammation, helping the body heal itself over time. Wharton’s Jelly, derived from the umbilical cord matrix, contains a rich source of mesenchymal stem cells, growth factors, and hyaluronic acid. These biologically active components support cartilage regeneration, enhance joint lubrication, and modulate inflammation. Patients often experience improved mobility, reduced pain, and a faster recovery timeline compared to traditional methods. Regenerative therapies are especially promising for osteoarthritis, sports injuries, tendon tears, and chronic joint degeneration, offering a natural, minimally invasive alternative to surgery. If joint pain is holding you back, consider exploring these advanced biologic treatments at OSST. They work with your body, not against it, to restore comfort and function. “ I am able to sit, walk, drive and hike, pain-free!“

I have experienced shoulder, knee and hip pain for many years. My shoulder pain has been chronic, but the knee pain has been excruciating at times. The worst was driving home from a work trip to Spokane several years ago. The pain was almost unbearable. It took many stops and many hours to drive home. That’s when I decided that I needed to do something different than traditional treatment. I tried many different treatments, like chiropractic, physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, Cortizone shots, and regenerative injections. They were all done in isolation and didn’t work as well as the combined treatments that I received at Olympic. For my knees, it took about three weeks to start feeling better, and my improvement has been remarkable and consistent! Since my knees have improved, I’m able to sit, walk, drive and hike, pain-free! I’m back to doing normal household chores and I’m able to manage 10 rentals. I can travel with my family without worrying about not being able to walk around town, or go hiking. Now, I can work, garden, travel, and work out without worry or significant pain!

Health Tip of the Month
Winter Light & Wellness

by Dr. Jean-Roberto Don

Feeling Sluggish This Winter?
Your body might need just need more light and vitamin D.

Shorter winter days can throw off your circadian rhythm, leading to fatigue, poor sleep, and low mood. Less daylight means less melatonin and vitamin D, both are key for energy and immune balance.

Support with Vitamin D
Vitamin D helps regulate mood and immunity, promoting calcium absorption for strong bones and pain modulation. But winter sun isn’t enough. Most adults benefit from 2,000–10,000 IU of vitamin D3 daily. Ask your primary care provider about testing your levels.

Red Light & Smart Light Habits
Red Light Therapy (RLT) boosts cellular energy, sleep quality, and circulation in just 10–20 minutes a day. At night, limit blue light exposure from phones and screens. Blue light tricks the brain into thinking it’s daytime, suppressing melatonin and delaying sleep.

Stay Balanced This Winter
Morning sunlight, evening screen limits, and supplementation with vitamin D can help you feel brighter all season.
