What Can I Do to Have a Healthy Spine?
First, when you’re sleeping, make sure to let your spine rest. During the day, your spine and the attached ligatures are working hard, which is why it’s important to let them become rejuvenated at night. Personal preference and comfort aside, get yourself a mattress and pillow that provides good support.
Next, get shoes that provide decent support. Exercise is a great way to promote overall health, but with the wrong footwear you can damage your back. A good pair of shoes, along with inserts if needed, can provide a solid base that can help your body and spine stay in alignment. Speaking of exercise, by giving your back and abs a regular workout, you can reduce the chance of injury by increasing your muscles. If you get into the habit of exercising 20-30 minutes per day, you can strengthen back and abdominal muscles. These muscles are already under strain by supporting your body, and if they’re not n good shape, your spine experiences more stress.
Finally, remember good posture is a must, especially with support. Discs in your lower spine are loaded three times more sitting instead of standing. Long periods of sitting can make back pain work. If you do sit throughout the day, try to get into the habit of getting up and walking around every 20-30 minutes or so.
