While many people have heard of peripheral neuropathy, not many have a full understanding of what it is, what causes it, or how it can be treated. Even lesser known are the ways that getting neuropathy treatment can benefit you. Here are some tips and information regarding peripheral neuropathy for some basic knowledge and understanding of what it is.

What Are The Symptoms Of Peripheral Neuropathy?

  • Numbness and tingling in your hands and feet.
  • Leg and foot pain.
  • Shooting pain in your legs.
  • Prickling and tingling sensations.
  • Loss of grip.
  • Impairment of balance.
  • Muscle twitch.

There Are Multiple Types Of Peripheral Neuropathy

  • Mononeuropathy – Neuropathy that affects only a single nerve.
  • Polyneuropathy – This is a pattern of nerve damage and affects multiple areas of the body.
  • Mononeuritis Multiplex – Simultaneous or sequential damage of entire nerve trunk.
  • Autonomic Neuropathy – This is a form of polyneuropathy that affects the involuntary nervous system.
  • Neuritis – This is the general term for when the nerve is inflamed.

What Causes Peripheral Neuropathy?

  • Diabetes, types one and two are both common causes.
  • Chemotherapy can result in peripheral neuropathy.
  • Metabolic Syndromes like an overactive, or under active thyroid.
  • Anemia.
  • Nutritional Deficiencies.

Neuropathy Treatment

  • Class IV laser – This supplies energy to the body without damaging tissue, and uses infrared light.
  • Whole Body Vibration Therapy – Activates the muscles with oscillation of the platform.
  • Infrared Light Therapy – Solves nerve damage by increasing circulation to the area.

If the symptoms listed sound familiar to you, we recommend talking to a local chiropractor about the nerve pain you’re experiencing. Peripheral Neuropathy can take form in many different ways, and if you don’t act on the pain, you could find yourself suffering from permanent nerve damage that will always cause you pain.
